Transform ordinary walls into extraordinary features
Wallcrete is essentially the vertical equivalent of pattern imprinted concrete, a decorative concrete coating applied to existing walls, fences, or new blockwork to give the appearance of natural stone, brick, or slate.
Wallcrete
A very popular method for garden boundary walls, retaining walls, garage walls, and even the sides of raised planters, Wallcrete offers a durable and highly attractive way to transform plain vertical surfaces.
Rather than being poured like driveway concrete, Wallcrete is a specially formulated render or coating applied to a vertical surface. It is typically a polymer-modified cementitious mix, improving adhesion, flexibility and durability.
The Process
Here is the comprehensive process for Wallcrete from Wight Premium Driveways.
Surface Preparation
The existing wall surface needs to be structurally sound, clean, and free of loose material, moss, or contaminants. A bonding agent may be applied where needed.
Applying the Base Coat
A scratch coat of render is applied to create an even, stable base and is keyed for the finish coat to bond properly.
Applying the Finish Coat
The decorative Wallcrete mix is applied over the scratch coat to a consistent thickness, usually around 10–15mm.
Colouring
Colour hardeners and release agents are applied to create depth, a natural aged appearance and the look of real stone or brick.
Stamping
Flexible polyurethane or rubber stamp mats are pressed firmly into the render while it remains workable.
Finishing, Curing and Sealing
Details are hand tooled where needed, then the render is left to cure and finally sealed to protect from weather, algae growth and UV fading.
